Dehesa de la Granja wine is born out of a superbly located environment and receives the best know-how from the hands of its makers.

The excellent Tempranillo vines are planted in an area exceeding 250 hectares with a very special microclimate provided by the waters of the River Guareña. The river crosses the winery and meadows covered with centuries-old holm oaks, cork oaks and oaks.

The vine stock was planted on its own roots and complemented with some very old non-grafted vines located by Alejandro in the Guareña valley itself.

September is usually the best time to harvest because the area’s climate –despite being similar to that of the Duero area– makes the grapes mature earlier.

As happens with the “Riberas”, the must undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrels of new oak. Then a meticulous decanting system facilitates clarification, which is natural in the cold winters of these lands.

The winery’s extensive cellars, excavated from the rock in the 18th century, are located just below its modern winemaking facilities. Apart from being very beautiful, these cellars are the ideal place for the wine and wood to blend together due to their silence, darkness, constant temperature and balanced humidity. The end result is Dehesa la Granja, a fine and intense wine “that refuses to abandon our mouths and our memory”.
